Coaching – Mentoring – Consulting
He became an MSL almost by accident. Having supported a new MSL team build-up in one of the UK’s major Pharma companies he thought that perhaps the role was not for him. What happened next was one the best 5 years in his Pharma career. A further year in Learning & Development, onboarding new MSL recruits and helping medical and commercial trainees in how to communicate scientific data effectively, together with working within the global function to help develop a MSL onboarding framework, gave him a passion for supporting one of Pharma’s fastest growing roles.
Having already covered most field pharma roles – sales, training, management and over 3 years in marketing driving the External Expert, Congress, Professional Organisation and Patient Group strategy – gave him a unique insight into what the MSL role would bring to the organisation and the patients it serves.
His main passions lie beyond sharing scientific data. He focuses most of his energies on improving scientific engagement as a two-way conversation with external expert stakeholders putting data in context whilst searching for priceless insights. Another key focus is how MSLs are integrated within the broader medical and commercial plans. Most of all he focuses on helping MSLs realise the WHY they do what they do.
Steve is Managing Director of Pollacco Consulting Limited, delivering first class coaching, mentoring and support for field medical roles. His career within Pharma spans over 30 years. He lives in Herefordshire with his wife Lesley. They have 2 daughters Laura and Emma.
