Jan Flynn

Following graduation from the University of Surrey with a degree in Biochemistry and Toxicology, Jan joined the pharmaceutical company SmithKline, now part of GSK, in R&D. After a few years in the labs, she moved to Regulatory Affairs where she gained a deep understanding of how the Pharmaceutical Industry functioned as the role required developing close working relationships with multiple departments, from medicinal chemistry to clinical research and marketing. This allowed Jan to plan her next move into the commercial side of the company in Pharmaceutical Marketing and latterly External Affairs/Stakeholder Management, which allowed her to develop partnerships with leaders within the NHS, DoH, Charites, and Government to find ways that Pharmaceuticals Company can work more closely together to provide improved patient-centered care and benefit all parties involved delivering this.

Over the subsequent 20 years, Jan has worked for several pharmaceutical and medical device companies, as well as running her own Regulatory and Marketing Consultancy and Medical Writing. During this time, she has worked on nearly all classes of drugs and diseases. Jan is a highly experienced marketeer and has managed marketing and market access teams and controlled large budgets. She has an MBA from Durham University, a Diploma in Marketing, and has been elected a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine.

Jan has recently been given the opportunity to take voluntary redundancy and to pass on her skills through training and coaching to other individuals and companies. Her expertise is in pharmaceutical commercial strategy, marketing, market access, key opinion leadership, and stakeholder management.

In her spare time, Jan loves to travel, including scuba diving all over the world. She also enjoys spending time with friends and family, drinking good wine, and walking her Chocolate Labrador, Skye (all at the same time if possible!). Creativity is very important to Jan and she enjoys making stained glass windows, handmade chocolates, knitting, and cooking and loves to learn new creative skills.
